So far we've studied two major contributors to the current conditions of our state's forests, fire suppression and timber harvest.  The third contributor is climate change, we will focus on it's relevance to wildfires and forest management.

In short, climate change exacerbates wildfire risk.  Read the article at the link below and watch the short video that follows.  Use this information to answer the questions in this quiz.

    • What ecosystems are the most at risk?
    • Specifically what parts of climate change are exacerbating our fire risk? (ie. timing of high winds with hotter weather in the fall, etc)

One note from the video, the researcher discusses the winds that have caused our most devastating fires.  The autumn winds themselves are not new; what he is saying is that it is now hotter and drier at the time when those winds are occurring.
