4.1 - Overview of Unit 4
Introduction to Unit 4
In this Unit we will begin by filling in some holes from Unit 3, in particular we will learn about air masses, how they form and what happens when they encounter one another. We will then look at major atmospheric disturbances: Extratropical Cyclones (the most important disturbance of the Midlatitudes), Tropical cyclones (the most important disturbance of the Tropics) and tornadoes (the smallest but most powerful atmospheric disturbances). We will take a brief look at climates around the world and discuss how climates are changing and why. And finally, we will investigate how and where water is stored on our planet.
