Overview

In this course, students will be able to plan appropriate curriculum that is developmentally, culturally, and linguistically responsive to diverse children.

In order to get to this major goal, each unit will build on your knowledge and skills on curriculum design for young children.

In this first unit, in Module 1, we will start by learning about developmentally, culturally, and linguistically responsive curriculum based on a child-centered approach.

We will compare and contrast traditional and child-centered curriculum approaches.

Objectives

By the end of this unit, you will be able to:

Distinguish between traditional and child-centered approaches to early childhood curriculum
Identify and Describe your current approach to early childhood curriculum
Explain in your own words developmentally, culturally, and linguistically responsive curriculum
Compare your current approach to early childhood curriculum with developmentally, culturally, and linguistically responsive curriculum
