Spring 20 History 17.2

Exam Dates: You can take the final exam anytime between May 15th and May 22nd. Once you open the link, you will have 2 hours to complete the exam.

A. You will write one essay worth 100 points. From these five questions, I will choose two options:

1. Describe the conditions of African Americans during the 20th century. In answering this question be sure to address: segregation, education, lynching, the New Deal, workers during WW II, the effects of World War II, the Brown v. Board of Education decision, & the tactics and goals of the SCLC.

2. Describe the events of the Cold War from WW II through the 1960s. In answering this question be sure to address: tensions between the United States and the Soviet Union, how communism was viewed in the United States and how this affected both domestic and foreign policy?

3. What changes were occurring for American women during the 20th century? In answering this question describe: the suffrage movement, the impact of Eleanor Roosevelt, women’s roles during World War II, what most suburban women’s lives were like, and the rise of the modern women’s movement.

4. Describe the growth of the American economy and consumerism during the 20th century. In answering this question be sure to address: the reasons for the economic boom of the 1920s, the causes of the Depression, the effect of FDR’s New Deal, and the economic boom of the 1950s.

5. Describe Europe from 1918 to 1949. Be sure to address: The Treaty of Versailles, the rise of the Nazis, the start of WW II, US entry into the War, how the Germans were defeated, and America’s role in post-war Europe?

Thorough essays will not only refer to lectures, but also to the text, articles, images and/or videos that have been assigned or have been viewed in our zoom lectures. I will choose the two essay questions and from these two questions, you will write one essay
