Because of the flexibility granted by open licenses, OER can be used in lots of different ways. You can link out to them or pull them into your learning management system, or move parts of a text into a new platform. This page has a few common scenarios for reference.

OpenStax

OpenStax books are in some ways the gold standard of openly licensed textbooks. They go through a rigorous editorial and peer review process that is analogous to a commercial publishing process. Here are a few features to note:

Each book has an "Instructor Resources" page associated with it that has links to free and low-cost ancillary content. Example: https://openstax.org/details/books/anatomy-and-physiology?Instructor%20resources
Each book has its own repository for community-created ancillaries in OER Commons. Example: https://www.oercommons.org/groups/openstax-anatomy-and-physiology/1054/?__hub_id=27
Every page of every textbook has an "Attribution" tab that states exactly how OpenStax would like you to attribute the content on that page if you reuse it somewhere else. This can be easily copy/pasted.

Pressbooks

Pressbooks is a platform based on WordPress that lets you easily create book-like content that will output in many different formats, including as an online book, PDF, print-ready PDF, e-reader formats, and more. This flexibility is a great feature from an accessibility perspective. Here is an example of a Pressbook: https://openoregon.pressbooks.pub/technicalwriting/

Sharing a Syllabus

For some courses, it makes the most sense to share a syllabus or course calendar with links to readings in order to show other instructors how your course is set up. If you do this, make sure to put an open license on the document that you share so that others know that they have permission to reuse in advance. Math Platforms

Math is a special case because equations need to be coded so that screen readers can navigate them. Two of the most commonly used platforms for open math content are My Open Math and WeBWorK.
