Now that you have gotten your feet wet in the scientific literature by reading about knockout mutants and then about the applications of the xanthophyll cycle to genetic engineering, we are going to delve into the literature on drought.
This information will be the most immediately relevant as you begin to consider your drought experiment for the semester and how you want to design that project. Researchers look to other research to figure out what has already been worked out and what are the existing challenges. This helps save time ( don't reinvent the wheel) but also can lead to key insights from other people's work.
I've created a guided reading of three scientific articles. Read this over and create a concep map that includes all of the important ideas from the reading. Remember one of the most important parts of a concept map are the arrows showing connections.
