Week 3 To-Do List and Overview
Our goal is to learn some active reading strategies, which we'll use to start reading Between the World and Me. We are reading about 60 pages of the book over the course of the week, so pace yourself.
In addition, you'll review the basics of paragraph structure as you develop your draft of the Bachmann Essay and submit it for peer review.
Goals
- Review and experiment with the elements of active reading strategies.
- Reflect on your own reading habits and experiences in the "Reading History" discussion
- Preview Between the World and Me and understand the major writing assignments that we'll be working on in relation to the Coates Essay.
- Participate in a discussions on Coates's book.
- Review paragraph structure
- Draft the Bachmann Essay with attention to paragraph structure

To reach the goals for this module, you'll need to complete the following activities:

7/7 | Participate in the "Difficulties" discussion about the first section of Coates. |
7/10 | Watch a lecture on Between the World and Me and participate in a discussion of pp 14-64 of the book. |
7/10 | Review paragraph structure, submit a draft of the Bachmann Essay and complete 2 peer reviews of other students' drafts. |
