About the Module Items

Many features outlined in the document Creating a Library Presence in Canvas cannot be displayed in a public page or in a shareable module.

The items that can be demonstrated in a public page are in this module:

• Use Redirect Tool to Link to Library Resources
• Use Conferences App for Research Appointments
• Create a General Library Services Page
• Embed LibGuides Assets
• Embed EBSCO’s Curriculum Builder Reading List
• Embed Search Box Widget from EBSCO Discovery Service

The Objective of this project was to "identify ways commonly available library services, resources, and programs can be integrated into the Canvas Learning Management System. Include implementation actions that librarians can take or can give to college IT, Distance Education, and online instructional faculty to further library integration into online instruction." As such, the objective was not to build out instructional modules. 

The authors ran into challenges when trying to develop example modules items that can be shared across campuses since many of the tools outlined rely on users being logged in, access to specific products, and, in many cases, product keys obtained from vendors.  Since the purview of this project was not in developing content, but rather in outlining administrative steps of establishing a presence in canvas, many of the recommendations will need to be implemented at the campus level to see their full effect.
