Meet the Instructor - Fall 2016

Tara Jacobson

Hello, Class!

My name is Tara Jacobson and I will be the instructor for the course. I have been teaching at SRJC for 8 years. Before SRJC, I taught Health Education and Exercise Science at a community college in San Diego. I have a Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology (emphasis Fitness, Nutrition, and Health) and a Master's degree in Exercise Physiology (emphasis in Public Health) from  San Diego State University. I am certified through ACSM (American College of Sports Medicine) as a Health and Fitness Specialist. I am also a 200-hour Registered Yoga Teacher in Integrative Yoga Therapy. I've taught group exercise classes since high school and was a personal trainer throughout college and beyond. Currently, my teaching schedule each term includes a variety of fitness based classes (including Pilates, Yoga, Body Conditioning, Weight Training, Cardio Kickboxing, Boot Camp) and lecture classes such as Principles of Health and Wellness, Introduction to Kinesiology, and Techniques of Fitness Instruction. I am the coordinator for the Certificate program in Fitness, Nutrition, and Health and oversee the Kinesiology program at the Petaluma Campus. I currently serve as the SRJC Academic Senate Vice-President and the Faculty Coordinator for Professional Development.
