Goals
If we're successful in this module, you'll be able to:
- Evaluate the credibility and appropriateness of research sources that you find on the internet.
- Understand the key characteristics of a strong introduction and recognize the major introduction strategies used by professional authors.
- Begin thinking about how to organize your Community Problem Essay and experiment with some electronic organizational tools.
- Consider the rhetorical effectiveness of Pollan.
Schedule
To reach the goals for this module, you'll need to complete the following activities:

1. Learn about how to evaluate research sources by watching videos about the CRAP test. | |
7/18 | 2. Practice evaluating some sample sources in the "Evaluating Sources" discussion. |
7/18 | 3. Turn in the Annotated Bibliography (after you've made sure your sources will pass the CRAP test). |
7/18 | 4. Sign up for a one-on-one conference with me about your Annotated Bibliography (conferences will be held during week 5). |
7/18 | 5. Learn about the various types of introduction strategies, take a quiz on them, and participate in the "Introductions Discussion." |
7/18 | 6. Consider how you might organize your Community Problem project by watching my video on that subject. Then experiment with the organizational tools I've posted. |
7/18 | Finish reading Pollan (Part 3, pp 147-201), and participating in the "Concluding Pollan" discussion. |
