Goals

If we're successful in this module, you'll be able to:

  • Evaluate the credibility and appropriateness of research sources that you find on the internet.
  • Understand the key characteristics of a strong introduction and recognize the major introduction strategies used by professional authors.
  • Begin thinking about how to organize your Community Problem Essay and experiment with some electronic organizational tools.

To reach the goals for this module, you'll need to complete the following activities:

 1. Learn about how to evaluate research sources by watching videos about the CRAP test.
7/18  2. Practice evaluating some sample sources in the "Evaluating Sources" discussion.
7/18  3. Turn in the Annotated Bibliography (after you've made sure your sources will pass the CRAP test).
7/18  4. Sign up for a one-on-one conference with me about your Annotated Bibliography (conferences will be held during week 5).
7/18  5. Learn about the various types of introduction strategies, take a quiz on them, and participate in the "Introductions Discussion."
7/18  6. Consider how you might organize your Community Problem project by watching my video on that subject.  Then experiment with the organizational tools I've posted.
